ARTIST

HAND-DRAWN ILLUSTRATION ART

About Me as An Artist

I am a natural artist. Self-taught. A creative and spontaneous individual with a rather unique imagination. Along with playing the piano, taking sports and dance lessons and many other extra-curricular activities when I was at school, drawing has always been embedded as a part of me growing up.

I started drawing seriously as a result of being surrounded by artists and like-minded individuals during my MA study ing Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship at Goldsmiths College, University of London. I am highly inspired by my idol artists Johanna Basford, Minjae Lee, and many more!

On top of creating my own original pieces, I also commission illustration work for product branding/label/packaging, editorial, music, posters, cards, book publishing or anything personal such as feel-good gifts or even inking on your favourite items or an Ukulele!

About My Work

I am excited by anything unusual, magical, improbable and bewildering. My hand-drawn illustration art pieces usually have a touch of fantasy and surrealism. I  really take my time to focus on intricate, minute details and use them to create art pieces of my own style.

I prefer using sketching pens  on paper to digital drawing tablets.  I feel that drawing by hand involves more "organic" emotions, intentions and artistic integrity. If I make mistakes, I have to naturally turn those mistakes into beauty. Music "feel" also has a lot of influence on each of my work pieces.

Johanna Basford, one of my inspirations, states that "For me, computer generated graphics can feel cold and soulless whereas hand drawing captures a sense of energy and character which no pixel can ever replicate." and I personally agree with her. However, after finishing painting and drawing my imagination with my own hands.

I love 0.03mm and 0.05mm Steadtler pigment liners.  If you take a look closer and closer at my work, you will discover many hidden details!
